Dinosaur Friend

© Jenn Cleary

my best friends name is Charlie
he comes over every day
from where I do not know
but all he wants to do is play

he walks out of the woods
in to my room he appears
my parents never see him
when they come he disappears

it’s hard to know where a 10’ dinosaur
goes when he’s away
but he doesn’t fit under my bed anyway
so it’s really best, he doesn’t stay

hey Mr. Dinosaur
you’re my best friend
I love to ride on your back
let’s go as fast as you can
hey Mr. Dinosaur
thanks for being my friend
you’re so much fun you big ol’ beast
I’ll love ya till the end

when he comes we talk for hours
about many, many things
we go outside and have some fun
we even ride on the swings

and when my other friends come over
I try to share my great big friend
but they just think I’m silly
they just don’t understand

I’m so glad to have my buddy
who will listen to all I say
he understands everythingI’m so happy day after day
